Abstract

This paper analyses and focuses the author’s viewpoint about the search for the answer to a question – “Is there a need for research on legislative/policy issues with particular reference to the vast and age old industry of mining”? If yes, what are the issues needing attention. Needless to say, the mining industry is dynamic and vibrant in nature and to improve the overall performance and rapport, first and foremost requirement is a sound, strong and business oriented policy/regulatory framework which has innovative content in it. This innovative content can be enhanced through research input, timely updating, avoiding multiplicity of policy formulation and policy implementation agencies and simplification of existing laws, regulation and procedure.
