Abstract

Excessive dust generation from mine roads in a common problem for surface coal mining areas. Various techniques are presently being adopted to control dust emission from mining roads. However, most of the techniques are not very effective since the source of particulate matter is not removed from road surface that causes air pollution. For effective control of air pollution in coal mining areas, dust has to be collected from road surface, and converted into coal briquettes for using it as domestic fuel. The paper summarizes the existing techniques available for controlling road dust pollution in coal mining areas, and proposes a new technique for cost-effective of dust pollution.
