Abstract

The present paper deals with the design of an intrinsically safe microprocessor based exchange for mines. The exchange consists of a central processor, relay matrix board, channel board along with the circuit to enter subscriber’s number to the microprocessor manually or automatically. Microprocessor is basically used for switching subscribers interconnection or converting the exchange from auto to manual or as loud hailer. In order to increase the reliability of the equipment it is proposed to use central processor in distributed mode, input function to one microprocessor and output function to the other processor. In the event of failure these functions could be taken up by one of the processors automatically.
