Abstract

Mine spoil in the form of over burden dump is a serious environmental problem associated with coal mining. Reclamation of these dumps is therefore urgently required. Reclamation is however a difficult process and it need both ecological considerations as well as economic value of plants to be established. The present study deals with performance of different varieties of bamboo on mine spoil. Results clearly indicate that bamboo can be a good choice for restoration purposes.
