Ground movement survey is a great tool for safety of surface features and it provides scope for research to establish parameters for disaster precaution. Periodic monitoring of ground deformation plays vital role in averting calamities. This paper reveals some of the direct and indirect techniques of subsidence measurements by different types of instruments, depending upon requirements and field conditions. The advent of the latest instruments has made ease in monitoring work as well as rapidness of work has also been enhanced.
