Abstract

Increasing proximity of centers of populations to the active mining areas and growing concern for safety of their life and property is compelling mining industry to control the airblast below the recommended safe levels. An understanding of the factors governing the generations and propagation of airblast of varying levels and frequency content and their effect on the structures and annoyance to the public may help to minimize its overall impact. Suggested measures and review of recommended level of airblast for safe operation can be useful in deigning the blast to control / minimize the airblast.
