Abstract

The various important factors on which increased safety design depends. Increased safety (Ex e) high tension motor is widely used in the explosive atmospheres. The motor time tE and current IA/IN ratio for increased safety motor is prime safety parameters. The higher value of time tE and Lower Current IA/IN ratio means insulating system of Ex e motor is able to withstand the locked condition for long time so motor will be more safe for long duration during in specified abnormal condition in hazardous area. The paper describes the basic design requirement and type of test for increased safety high tension motor for explosive atmospheres.
