Abstract

This analysis and discussions paper lays emphasis on the underground Utilities in Indian context and arrives at the conclusion that they should be made as a part of the modern infrastructure development. Since they offer comparative advantages over their surface counterpart creation of underground infrastructure facilities will be the correct step towards sustainable development. In a longer time span since they are economical, energy efficient and safe too, better quality of life is the net benefit of their creation. Their execution through PPP model will open new construction vistas in terms of employment generation and expertise development in the field of underground engineering.
