Abstract

Exploitation of coal with full safety has been a challenging job since many years. Ground Control operation in underground mines is an ‘imprecise’ work as we are dealing with rock mass in in-situ conditions. Behavior of soil & rock in mine during excavation can hardly be predicted with the existing knowledge. In many cases, accidents often takes place due to lack of knowledge of geo-mining conditions & also improper installation of mine supports. Under these circumstances, accidents can be abated by accurate measurement, optimization and analysis of various support parameters using Fuzzy Logic, an Artificial intelligent (AI) technique. In this study, we have discussed Fuzzy Logic technique and its application to optimize setting load to be applied to hydraulic props and thus to predict appropriate setting load to the props in vakilpalli mine of SCCL.
