Abstract

Gray-King Carbonization Assay at low temperature is generally carried out in the laboratory to assess the coking characteristics of coals in respect of the quality and quantity of products obtainable from them. For swelling coals, an inert material, namely, a specially processed, standard quality electrode carbon imported form abroad is recommended to be used in admixture with the coals. In view of the non-availability of this material in India, an attempt was made to find out a suitable and easily available diluent in the shape of crushed coke dust of graded size
