Abstract

Positive anticipation of caveability of strata though very vital is still at an early stage of development. Different empirical and statistical approaches are being developed in many countries. Under the programme of the development of equivalent material mine models, simulation of caving characteristic is one of the basic requirements. The model investigations revealed the influence of layer thickness. Their rigidness, cohesion and other physico mechanical properties on caving characteristic of roof rocks. On the basis of these investigations conducted at the C.M.R.S., a method has been proposed to anticipate the caving behaviour of any roof.
