Abstract

Need for development of subsidence prediction methods has been emphasised. Various methods of subsidence prediction have been analysed. It was found that many of them do not satisfy their boundary conditions. A new hypothesis for the prediction of asymmetrical subsidence profiles of different shapes has been suggested, which satisfies the boundary conditions. Two separate equations for sub-critical and critical widths as given below have been suggested.
