Abstract

Methane axidising bacteria have been isolated from fresh cow dung in an atmosphere of 1:1 methane air mixture. These have been purified by streaking in agar plants. The colonies grown on agar plates have been further enriched in fresh gas media. The process of purification s and enrichment is continued till a culture is obtained which is having maximum activity towards the oxidation of methane.
