Abstract

The strata deformation, during excavation in mine model, causes planar movement at any point in frontal plane of the model. Conventional, electrical and mechanical gauges measure only unidirectional movement and sometimes the load of these gauges, on the peg in brittle material of the model, constituted additional movement. The number of observation points are also limited by these methods due to time and space constraint of the experiment. The bidirectional movement of large number of points fixed on overlying strata of mine model is determined by motion-parallax method of photogrammetry. From the same position and orientation, before and after displacement, photographs of vertical cross-section of model are taken b metric camera UMK 10. Stereoscopic Co-ordinate measurements are made on stereo-comparator 1818 and the results are used to estimate angles of draw and fracture, amount of subsidence, compression and elongation zones and strain profile. The limitations of cut and roll films for such observation was also analysed with a view to replacing ORWO TO plates in the same camera UMK 10 during observation on another model.
