Abstract

Photogrammetric mapping represents a digital model of heterogeneous object – furnishing spatial configfuration and co-ordinates of refer ence points. Depending upon the surface to be observed and the rate of movement of the objects, large amount of data is generated by photoaquisition. Photogrammetry helps in mathematical/digital evaluation of deformation and displacement along different axes. For quick reduction and analysis of data computers are in increasing use in photogrammetry. Recent uses of terrestrial photogrammetry in open pit monitoring with particular refer ence to its accuracy and economics is reviewed to show its efficacy in routine survey work.
