Abstract

The paper describes the impact of surface activities of an underground metal mine on air quality of the surrounding area. Gaseous pollutants ((SO¬2 and NOx ) in the area are within permissible limit but suspended particulate matter (SPM) is the main cause of pollution in residential area and at few places, like crushing plant and old tailing dam. In the dust, metal contents, like lead, zinc and cadmium are found to be on higher side.
