The CSIR-Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CSIR-CIMFR), Dhanbad has provided the Scientific extraction design for the complex Indian geomining conditions existing at the three Highwall mining sites at Ramagundem opencast Project-II and Medapalli OCP of M/s Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL). And Quarry SEB and AB, west Bokaro of M/s Tata Steel Ltd. (TSL). This made over 5 Million tone of lacked-up coal immediately viable for extraction by Highwall mining, thus adding to the fuel basket/inventory energy supply of the nation. The developed technology is so comprehensive that it is adaptable to virtually any situation existing in Indian coalfields. The present paper given the scientific elucidation of the design technology adopted by CSIR-CIMFR.
