Proper mine support in underground mines is now a days has became imperative. Ground control operation is an ‘imprecise’ area of engineering due to the fact that we are dealing with a material produced by nature (the ground). Empirical approaches to design have been widely used in these mines since long. Under these circumstances, expert judgment plays an important role. Accidents can be obviated using the accurate measurement, optimization and analysis of data of mine support parameters using one of the Artificial Intelligence technique i.e. Artificial Neural Networking. In this paper some of the parameters for standing prop were taken as input data and setting load to be applied during its erection was the output data in application of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) technique for optimization of mine support system.
