Abstract

The possibilities of recovering clean coal fractions for metallurgical use from low-grade coals and washery middlings of froth-flotation after crushing them to various fineness have been studied. Besides conventional flotation agents, diesel oil was also used, which has, however, not founa much application as yet. This reagent seems to have good potentialities for future use on a large-scale. The tests were carried out in a ‘Denver Sub A’ type cell. It was observed that with increasing fineness, the percentage recovery of clean coal fractions increased for both low-grade coal and the washery middlings.
