Abstract

The highly toxic nature of nitrogen oxides demands periodic check on the gases in working places where they are likely to occur. Underground mines, defence installations and many chemical factories and industrial shops are important locations for occurrence of nitrous fumes, and the paper briefly reviews the standard methods of detection and estimation of the gases, their toxic nature and the first aid measures in case of poisoning.
