Abstract

The necessary computation for the preliminary design of a gravimetric siae-selective coal dust collector has been made on the principle of ‘Horizontal elutriation’. The proposed sampler may be useful for the determination of ‘Mass/number Index’ (MNI) of coal dust. MNI represents the mass concentration in mg/m3 corresponding to a number concentration of 103 particles/cm3 of airborne dust within appropriate size range.
