Effect of dynamic forces on the behaviour or rock is one of the important factors to be considered while planning and designing of rock slope in opencast project amongst various methods to determine dynamic characterstics of rocks sonic wave velocity method is extensively used due to its simplicity and rapidity. The most important and pronounced litho-unit of the rock phosphate mine is impure limestone. In the present laboratory investigation sonic wave velocity method has been used to study the dynamic elastic behaviour of impure limestone. An attempt has been made to establish correlation amongst various dynamic parameters.
