Abstract

Three coal samples chosen for the study were found explodable as per flammability test in Godbert’s apparatus1. On the basis of results generated from experiments with the same taking ten ranges of particle sizes from each on of them, it has been possible to establish empirical relations between the ash-contents and their grain sizes. The study affords not only to provide experimental support that the ash-content of any of the three samples changes with its grain sizes but also to estimate, whenever required, its amount at any of its grain size. A single equation combining the three equations has been incorporated specially for application in the study of these coal samples in their pulverized state or their suspensions in air.
