Abstract

A methodology has been offered – from case studies of sealed fire areas – y which it becomes possible to identify the origin of the fires, whether from endogenous heating or mainly from exogenous origin, like contact fires. In case of the former, it becomes possible to identify the most important mining parameter(s) causing the eruption of the fire. The method developed is based on fire risk evaluation of extrinsic mining parameters.
