Abstract

Surface as well as subsurface ground movement investigations were conducted over 4S/9 panel at Godavari khani (GDK) No. 1 Incline in Godavari Valley Coalfield. The sub-surface ground movements were conducted in seam – II development, vertically above the extraction panel. The important features over the panel were Jangaon village, wells, roads and agricultural land, the maximum subsidence, compressive and tensile strains and slope in seam II (substrata) were higher than the surface measurements. A few cracks and side spalling were observed in the developed seam II, but the over all stability of seam-II was intact. There was no impact on ground water.
