Abstract

Noise of high levels creates stress which breed annoyance, frustration, intolerance and moodiness. It may even inflict adversely on the psychological well being of an individual worker. Hence, the noise of the levels higher than the standards laid down by the ministry of Environment and Forest must be abated not only to achieve greater percentage of production but also restore physical health of workers at work place. Noise is a significant ingredient of environmental degradation. Unlike other pollutants, noise lacks visibility, seldom registering on the consciousness except as a trifling irritant to be dismissed at will and therefore, less likely to be perceived as a great threat.
