Abstract

Sustainable development is now the buzzword found in much environmental and some economics literature these days and is frequently being used in varied different situations around the globe. Everyone is now talking about it and the businesses are now using this as their business strategy to get ahead of their rival by showing their concern for the environment and the society alike. The present paper is an attempt to show through case studies how an integrated watershed management approach can be efficiently and effectively used in achieving the sustainable social and human development in a region by utilizing the local resources. This paper also shows the usefulness of such integrated watershed management approach in attaining the overall socio-economic benefit of the people of the region.
