Abstract

The estimate of coal reserve in India may not be fully accurate but there is no alternative now, except to give coal to the central position in the power field because there is no other thing that can be used as a substitute. The position of hydro and nuclear power is not so good because huge investment is required for their development and exploitation. Further, both are related with environment and ecology. In view of this, it is concluded that energy generation based on coal will be reliable in our country. At present, there is a large gap of coal demand, supply and consumption in the power plant but it can be control by completion of projects in targeted time. Low grade processed and unprocessed coal can be easily burnt in power plants through modern equipments with full capacity and this will be most important use of coal resources of our country.
