Abstract

The relation between ash fusion temperature and chemical composition of twenty five coal ash samples of different seams of Chhattisgarh, Madya Pradesh and Orissa were studied through various parameters like acid/base ratio and mineral matters. It is found that the chemical composition of the coal ash determines its fusion temperature and melting characteristic. Form the ratio, it is found that higher the ratio, higher is the fusion temperature. Low fusion temperature of the coal ashes affects the suitability of coal for use in boiler and gas production.
