Abstract

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) proposed to construct a new man-winding shaft of 6m finished diameter and 180 m deep from surface. The shaft will be located at 250 m away from the highwall of OCP-II, RG-III Area. it will be used for man-winding which will connect no. I seam, nearer to the punch entries. The shaft will have cage which is proposed to run on guide-ropes with a capacity of 24 people at a time. The present paper highlights the scientific investigations carried out by CIMFR to assess to stability of the proposed shaft due to nearby opencast blasting as well as to recommend effective and safe design of the shaft lining in order to withstand ground vibration generated by OCP-II blasting
