Abstract

Some theoretical aspects of gravity flow of sand/water mixtures in stowing systems are examined here in the context of the pioneering work on hydraulic transport of solids carried out by Durand and condolios in France. The theoretical considerations on the design of stowing systems with special reference to pipeline layout and the maximum delivery and range of stowing are presented in the paper. An account of the developments in design in the stowing installations in France is also given by the authors
