Abstract

Assuming certain procedures, coke consumption and productivity of hot metal in the iron blast furnace have been calculated as functions of ash per cent of coke. Sample calculations and results have been given. Lower ash content is desirable not only for saving in coke consumption but also for increasing production per unit volume of the furnace. Average change in productivity was about 2.4% for each 1% change in ash content in the range of 12 to 36%. Higher the ash per cent higher is the increase in coke consumption per 1% rise in coke ash
