Abstract

The present paper deals with radio frequency cage communication in underground mines. Merits. And demerits of radio frequency cage communication with inductive system for cage communication has been described. Results. Of field trial in three coal mines, Chindakuri (Eastern Coalfields Ltd.), Moonidih (Bharat Coking Coal Ltd.), and jeetpur (Indian Iron & Steel Co. Ltd.) along with a zinc mine, Rajpura-Deriba Mines (Hindustan Zick Ltd.), has been described. It has been concluded that radio frequency cage communication is fairly effective and highly convenient. Modification of existing equipment to suit mining conditions have been given.
