Abstract

All R&D organization carry out different types of projects like Grant-in-Aid project, sponsored project, collaborative project, consultancy project etc. related to their concerned area. Projects are formulated considering different elements of cost required for the projects like – Manpower cost, Traveling expenditure, Contingencies, Chemicals & Consumables and Apparatus & Equipments etc. But, in most of the R&D organizations, manpower cost is not taken into consideration while evaluating the performance of the projects as actual expenditure is not incurred for the payment of manpower cost (i.e., salary of the involved personnel). But, there is an involvement of opportunity cost due to utilization of mandays to perform the task/assignment. The present study has been carried out to find out the method of costing of manpower in consultancy projects and impact of actual manpower cost involved in execution of consultancy Projects.
