Abstract

A detailed literature review on relationship between in-situ stress and elastic wave velocity has been carried out. It was found that many investigators tired to find out relationship between elastic wave velocity and different parameters from in-situ data using seismic and geophysical methods and also in laboratory conditions. In this paper, a relationship between in-situ stress and elastic wave velocity up to a depth of 5 km which is of interest in rock burst and or hazardous conditions based on the available data in literature is presented
