Abstract

This second part of the paper attempts to verify under actual field conditions the theoretical criteria developed in the first part. The efficacy of the proposed graphical procedure has been demonstrated by the analysis of the field data. The analytical method for estimating squeezing pressure has been found to be a good tool for study of the squeezing pressure phenomenon. The analysis suggests that the displacements have a great bearing on the rock pressure and a flexible support system may be an appropriate remedy. This hypothesis has been further demonstrated by support behaviour in the Giri tunnel.
